Being a parent is a beautiful responsibility. One that requires a lot of patience, love and support. Here at PCCV we recognize this and applaud all you moms and dads out there. Part of our mission is to help and support you through your pregnancy and beyond. Read on to learn how we may be able to help you:
One of the main ways we help our clients and their babies is though material support. With our Building Blocks program you can earn everything you need for your little one including a pack-n-play, stroller, blankets, bottles, baby clothes, swing, and much more. The program is easy, fun and educational. It will empower you as a parent to provide for your child. Call or come in today to learn more and get started.
Here at the PCCV we know that financial hardship can be a big cause of stress, especially to a parent. That is why we provide an emergency supply of diapers, wipes and formula once a month. We also offer free maternity clothing to our pregnant clients. Other items for baby can easily be earned through our Building Blocks program (see above for more information).
Sometimes you just need someone to talk to, someone to lean on, or someone to give you friendly advice. Your PCCV trained peer counselor cares about you and is committed to helping you through your journey for as long as you need her. We are moms, daughters, sisters, aunts, friends, students and working women, just like you. We offer education on Parenting Skills, Pregnancy Care, Labor Preparation, Breastfeeding and much more.
The PCCV is proud to be a part of the Central Virginia community. We are connected to resources in our area that exist to help pregnant women and parents, like you. We can help you get connected to the right places to get the help you need, whether it be physical, like setting up insurance for pregnancy; mental, like taking a class on parenting; or spiritual, like professional counseling or simply finding a church in the area.
Through our Building Blocks programs, women and men can educate themselves on everything from pre-natal care to breastfeeding to childhood nutrition. We offer a variety of ways to learn including videos, reading materials and group or one-on-one classes. Some of our classes include our Heart2Heart program which is all about preparing for the best Labor & Delivery experience, Becoming Great Mommies helps women bond and interact with their children while being with other new moms to talk about parenting concerns and issues, and our Involved Dads class is all about giving fathers the tools they need to overcome parenting challenges.
