“Alicia” was considering abortion because of financial concerns and because she was afraid to tell her mother. Her boyfriend said that the baby was a gift from God, but she still didn’t know what to do.

At the Pregnancy Center, we talked her through her options and scheduled an ultrasound for her. Soon after her visit she found the courage to tell her mother, who came with her and her boyfriend to the appointment…

Her mom was sharing how there was still so much for Alicia to do before having children, but when she saw the baby’s ultrasound picture, she exclaimed,

That’s my grandchild!

When they left, Alicia’s mom called out, “Love you guys!”

She did not judge me, but shared the facts about the abortion procedure I would likely be going through. She discussed the risks, and some other options for me. I decided to schedule an abortion some time after that visit, but then talked to a couple friends who advised me not to do it and to continue seeking help. I am so glad I did and even though I ended up miscarrying, I feel better just having known that the Center was here to help me when I needed them. They really cared about me.” Mary

Our Mission Statement

The Pregnancy Centers of Central Virginia is a life-affirming Christian ministry committed to:

• HOPE for women, men and their families, facing issues of unintended pregnancy
• HELP through free and confidential counseling, education and medical services
• HEALTH by empowering individuals to make self-controlled healthy lifestyle choices
• HEALING through spiritual, emotional, and physical support

Purpose and Philosophy

As a Christian ministry our desire is to help women and men avoid painful, destructive choices as they go through a crisis pregnancy–choices they may later regret. We serve by giving women an opportunity to explore their resources and the support they have, as well as a chance to express their feelings, fears, and concerns in a non-judgmental environment.

We listen and provide support, but we do not tell women what to do. Counseling provided is not an intended substitute for professional counseling.

We are committed to integrity in dealing with clients, earning their trust, providing information and services, and eschewing any form of deception in our advertising or individual conversations.

We help women face the future with hope and constructive plans for their lives. Our services include confidential counseling for women, men and their families, medical appointments including ultrasound, parenting classes, maternity and baby clothing and furniture, a 24-hour Helpline, and much more.

Our Vision is to reduce the abortion rate in the Central Virginia Piedmont area by expanding our geographic coverage, reaching more clients, encouraging more changed decisions, reaching thousands of young people with an abstinence-only message, and becoming well known in the faith community and general population for providing free services with excellence in the following areas:

• quality Christian counseling
