We are Compelled by a Vision

Our Vision is to reduce the abortion rate in the Central Virginia Piedmont area by expanding our geographic coverage, reaching more clients, encouraging more changed decisions, reaching thousands of young people with an abstinence-only message, and becoming well known in the faith community and general population for providing free services with excellence in the following areas:

  • crisis pregnancy counseling
  • pregnancy support services
  • abstinence education
  • quality Christian counseling

History

Our Centers were founded in June 1984 by a group of lay ministers, physicians, and pastors in our community from a wide cross-section of Christian churches, with the desire to offer a Christian alternative to abortion.

We continue to operate as a religious 501(c)3 corporation dedicated to serving women and babies in crisis.

DID YOU KNOW?
The pregnancy centers served nearly 2,800 clients in 2011.

We have ministered to over 15,000 women and their families in the central Virginia area since 1984. All services are offered free of charge by trained peer counselors. Male peer counselors are available for the husbands/partners.

Affiliations

The Pregnancy Centers of Central Virginia is affiliated with Care Net as well as Heartbeat International. Care Net and Heartbeat set very high standards of care and provide training and materials for over 1,400 pregnancy centers nationwide.

Staff and Volunteers

We operate with a small staff of dedicated Christians and are assisted by over 400 volunteers from a ten-county area including our Church Representatives.

Funding

We are supported primarily though gifts and pledges by private individuals, churches and businesses in our community. Our fundraising events include the Annual Banquets in Charlottesville, Annual Dessert Receptions in Culpeper and Orange, and Walks for Life.
